Fallen hero, fallen friend,
It’s you we lift today.
Upon the banner in the wind
Your memory will say:
Though I am not beside you,
Stars and stripes shall fly above,
As a symbol to your tender heart…
Forever lives my love.
In the breeze that passes
Feel me touch you on your cheek,
Wiping every tear
Your broken heart does weep.
In the bird’s gentle song
My laughter fills each space.
What yesterday felt empty
Now brings a smile to your face.
And in the distant mountains
See the strength I proudly bore.
I gave my life in duty
Now my soul flies evermore.
And in your lonely moments
Where light may not shine through,
